i think the whole feminism in fashion is very hard to pull off and can sometimes come across as corny. dior has already given us feminism which was done effortlessly and in such a classy way during their SS17 show that i just believe that any designers that does it now are simply repeating something that has already been last year. from my perspective resort collections are meant to be fun an energetic and not political statements. that’s what the main collections are for [personal view].
however, now here comes the big plot twist, stacey bendet has managed to pull this political statement out the bag this time around simply because in this general election alone we have more women as local mp’s than in previous years. the feminism trend looks like it will continue well into 2018.
is it too soon to call stacey a visionary, we won’t know until we see her next resort collection. maybe stacey is making resort the new main fashion shows for alice + olivia, who knows. either way i will continue to creep…
